  • Holiday Weekends

To me, a holiday weekend is more fun when it means I am actually getting a holiday from something. This 4th of July it is just more of the same for me. I'm at home alone (well, at the Pastor's house where we are currently dog/housesitting) while Tom is off at work. It's a horrendous day for weather as well, which doesn't really help me to feel very celebratory either. I'm seriously considering spending the day sleeping in between reading chapters.

Canada Day felt much more festive. Tom's parents, Tom and myself all went walking around NYC wearing last year's Canada t-shirts - incredibly, we were wished Happy Canada Day by several people. We even got high tens from one woman. It's unusual to get even a smile in NYC, let alone high tens!

Hm, bed and book are calling.

happy canada day (belated) sarah. sounds like you guys had a good time in NYC and since i spent a couple years in and around the big apple i know that getting a reaction, let alone a good one from people in NYC is a rarity, i'm very suprised by that blessing as well. hope all continues to be well for you guys. thinking of you. what do you think of your book?

just read some reviews on Anita Shreve's work...sounds like a really intense story teller. i'll have to search one of her books out. and by the way i ADORE your background. i'd almost like to steal it and print it and make it my actual wallpaper in my room ;)
