xanga?
is anyone still alive out there in xanga-land?
facebook has replaced you in my nerd-life.
it is fun to look back at all the places i have been, simply by reading old posts... how my life has changed in such a short period of time.
facebook doesn't give me that.

We Get Around
For myself and Tom, much of July has been spent travelling to exotic locations like Ohio and Pennsylvania. Please, try to contain your envy. In all seriousness though, it has been a blast.
We went on a date with Al and Mary to NYC on Canada day.
To Drew and Chelsea's wedding in Ohio where I got to see Ali and Chelsea for the first time in over a year.
Then (with Stacy!) we headed down to visit David for a while. She's twitterpated.
Last weekend we went to see The Dark Night and I loved it.
We also went to visit my friends Brad and Heather in Philly.
And met up with Landon and Heather (from Nashville) there as well.
July has been a blast. I cannot wait for August. Rebecca, Lorie, and LEE-LEE are coming next week! YAY!
Life is gooooooood.

Holiday Weekends
To me, a holiday weekend is more fun when it means I am actually getting a holiday from something. This 4th of July it is just more of the same for me. I'm at home alone (well, at the Pastor's house where we are currently dog/housesitting) while Tom is off at work. It's a horrendous day for weather as well, which doesn't really help me to feel very celebratory either. I'm seriously considering spending the day sleeping in between reading chapters.
Canada Day felt much more festive. Tom's parents, Tom and myself all went walking around NYC wearing last year's Canada t-shirts - incredibly, we were wished Happy Canada Day by several people. We even got high tens from one woman. It's unusual to get even a smile in NYC, let alone high tens!
Hm, bed and book are calling.

The Truth About Marriage
It is a lot of work. Internal work, that is. It's so much about humbling yourself to understand the other person and meet their needs above your own. It's about being selfless. It's about working together and meeting each other in the middle. I am learning that there is no room for pride in a successful marriage. Leave all you think you know about communication at the church door on the wedding day. Every day is a lesson in communicating. Every day is an opportunity to grow in mutual understanding, love, and servanthood. I am doing my best to take advantage of every day and, God bless him, so is Tom.
I am loving this adventure and my wonderful husband.
Also, my matchmaking efforts within our bridal party are totally panning out. Tom's best man is going to meet the parents of one of my bridesmaids for 4th of July! Woot woot!
